Jungle

In 30 secondsThe first expansion, and the first time Eevee and its three evolutions, Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon, appeared on English cards. Jungle is small, just 64 cards, with no Energy cards and only one Trainer. Almost every card is a Pokemon.

Where to look on a Jungle card

Snorlax, labelled1234
Snorlax, labelled.
  1. 1 1st Edition stamp. Only the first print run has it. No stamp means Unlimited (the later, larger print).
  2. 2 Set symbol: a small Vileplume flower.
  3. 3 Card number and rarity: the number out of 64, then the rarity symbol (circle common, diamond uncommon, star rare).
  4. 4 Copyright line: the years and company names show when the card was printed.

The cards collectors look for

Under each card: how many were printed (never published) and how many each grading company has graded, by version. The number in brackets is how many got a perfect 10. Graded counts are not the number that exist: most copies were never graded.

The packs and the box

Jungle booster packs came in 3 different designs. The design is just the artwork on the wrapper: every design holds cards from the same set. Booster boxes held 36 packs. Use these to recognise genuine packaging, then check the seals with our sealed packs and boxes guide.

Go deeper: every holo has a twin

Each of the 16 holo rares (1 to 16) was also printed as a non-holo rare with the same artwork, numbered 17 to 32. So Snorlax is 11/64 as a holo and 27/64 as a non-holo. Check the number before you buy: it tells you which version you are looking at, even in a blurry photo.

Go deeper: the set symbol

Jungle's symbol is a small Vileplume flower, bottom right of the picture. Base Set cards have no symbol at all, so the flower is the quickest way to tell a Jungle card apart from a Base Set one. One exception: an early Unlimited print run of the 16 Jungle holos was printed with no symbol by mistake (see our errors page).

Go deeper: only one Trainer

The single Trainer card is Poke Ball (64/64). Everything else, all 63 other cards, is a Pokemon, which is why Jungle feels like a collection of characters rather than a deck-building set.

Every card in Jungle

All 64 cards, in order. Under each: number, version and how many have been graded (PSA + CGC + TAG, all versions). Card images via TCGdex and pokemontcg.io.
